Statistics about Individual Voluntary Arrangements

The IPC is pleased to learn that the Insolvency Service at its Insolvency Practitioner Unit in Birmingham has established a new computer programme to obtain more statistics on IVAs from information given to it by insolvency practitioners when registering and closing IVAs. The final trials are in progress but a sample of information has been obtained from the new data base and passed to the regulatory bodies and this has been well received and considered to be a useful additional source of information. The IPC is pressing for the information to be extensive and valuable in enabling the IS and the RPBs to make policy and regulatory decisions. It should enable the monitors to establish whether “best advice” has been given in all cases, which is another of the IPC’s recommendations in its 2004 and 2005 Annual Reports.
